Speech and Puppet Event Times

The Convention Manual for 2012 did not have time guidelines for two events. Please use the guidelines below for the Speech and Puppet events.

Puppets will have the following guidelines added:

Each Puppet Team will have ten (10) minutes to set up, perform, and clear the room. Each Puppet Team’s performance must be a minimum of four (4) minutes.

Speeches shall be three to six minutes in length.

One of the most objective criteria for determining whether a participant has invested time in preparing and practicing their event is the time factor. Therefore, the event director may choose to lower the medal award for time infractions. A number of criteria would be considered in the determination, including the amount of time over or under, the age of the participant and the judge 's comments and recommendations.
